Dance Commons: Move. Connect. Create. Belong

DONATE TODAY AND HELP US MAKE DANCE COMMONS HAPPEN IN 2027.

What if dance could be a commons? A commons is something we share, nurture and hold in common — knowledge, culture, connection, place and resources that belong to nobody and everybody. Let’s dance!

— Felicity Bott, Artistic Director

Since 2024, Great Southern Dance’s Dance Commons has brought people together across generations and sectors through residencies, workshops, classes, informal performances and conversations (see photo gallery below). Help us to keep this shared space for connection, creativity and belonging keep happening…right through 2027!

In 2027, Dance Commons will grow into four seasonal gatherings:

🍂 MEET — Autumn
❄️ MAKE — Winter
🌱 PLAY — Spring
☀️ CELEBRATE — Summer

Across the year, we’ll create opportunities for people of different ages, experiences and abilities to come together, move, make, participate and connect — including people living with disability and challenging health issues. Your donation can help make Dance Commons 2027 happen.

You’re not simply funding a dance program.

You’re helping create the spaces, relationships and opportunities that allow people, place, dance and connection to flourish.

Help us keep dance, connection and community flourishing.

Great Southern Dance pays its respects to the original owners of the land upon which we work, the Muwinina and the Mumirimina people.

We acknowledge the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community as the continuing custodians of lutruwita (Tasmania) and honour Aboriginal Elders past and present. We value their history, culture and resilience and acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded.
